Before Casting a Spell

Many people feel a great satisfaction in casting spells, and exploring new spiritual depths. But spellcasting could potentially be a dangerous thing, and there are several points you need to consider before casting, and take caution as necessary.
  1. Could the spell potentially harm you or someone else? Think twice before hexing others, or even casting upon yourself. Karma is a bitch, and it's possible that you may regret it later. Don't be hasty. Remember that you have to deal with the consequences. "Be careful what you wish for. It just might come true."
  2. Make sure you know exactly what you want before casting, and have a clear image in your mind. If there are words involved, make sure your wish is clearly stated and there is no room for error.
  3. When casting for someone else, make sure to have his or her full permission first. Even if your intentions are good, the other person may not wish this, or are unsure if this is what they want, and the spell could possibly backfire. (I personally refuse to cast for others for this reason.)
  4. When doing spellwork, the most important thing is to believe that it will work, regardless of whether it does or not. The true power of a spell lies in faith, and if you don't believe whole-heartedly, it will most likely fail.
  5. If you are feeling doubt or guilt about casting a spell, it is better not to do so.
